HOW TO GET MBBS ADMISSION IN PAKISTAN

MBBS is an undergraduate course for students who want to fulfill their dream of becoming a doctor. MBBS means Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, it is a professional degree in medical science. A person holding this degree becomes a certified doctor. The duration of the MBBS course is 5 years and 6 months including 1 year of internship at hospitals, health care centers, and health camps organized by non-profit organizations. Its syllabus includes different subjects. Now the question arises of how to get admission to MBBS in Pakistan. Below we will discuss steps to take admission to MBBS in Pakistan.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should have passed intermediate with subject FSC (pre-medical) with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:

The candidate has secured 70 percent marks in FSC pre-medical.

MDCAT:

MDCAT is an entry test for admission to different medical and dental colleges in all public and private sector medical colleges and universities according to the regulations of the Pakistan Medical and dental council. This test is administrated by UHS.

TEST DURATION:

The test duration is 150 minutes.

PASSING MARKS:

Passing marks in these entry tests are 60 percent.

ENTRY TEST:

Every student who wants to take admitted to MBBBS will have to pass a specific entry test after that their merit will be determined. Some colleges also accept SAT in lieu of the entry test one must prepare for the entry test with full concentration so that he may able to score good marks.

There are different codes for the different institutions and the college center from where students are appearing in exams.

OPTIONS:

  • Admission to the public sector has only 3 options:
  • Local student.
  • Local Self Finance.
  • Foreign national.

ADMISSION STARTING DATE:

Different colleges have different dates for starting admissions but usually, it starts in June/July and ends in November but for some universities and colleges the date is different too.

AGE LIMIT:

According to the regulations of the Pakistan Medical and dental council, there is no maximum or minimum age limit for seeking admission.

REGISTRATION:

Candidates can apply online for MDCAT and later on seek admission in different universities and colleges on the basis of this test.
